Gallium Nitride GDA200 Ultra Compact Desktop PSUs

A new bar has been set for the size of external power supplies by today’s release of FiDUS’ GDA200.

The use of Gallium Nitride in lieu of a Silicone semi-conductor switch has increased efficiency, reducing heat losses and resulting in an amazingly compact 200W external desktop of 12.5W/In3 power density!

The product is aimed at system designers who are looking for a sleek power supply to sit alongside their innovative product to deliver an image of quality and leading edge, innovative technology. The compact size is also advantageous to clients building in external power supplies to their design for a rapid approval process. The small size 5.9” x 2.12” x 1.3” may reduce total package size for system builders resulting in higher shipping and storage densities, given that the closest competitor is around 2.5 times bigger.

It is available in class I or II (C14 and C8 inlet), the C14 inlet is 11mm longer to accommodate the IEC input mould. It offers designers future proofing with the latest energy efficiency legislation; Department of Energy Level VI & Energy Related Products Tier 2, and latest general safety approval EN62368-1. The units offer global approvals for use in Japan (PSE), China (CCC) and Taiwan (BSMI) as well as the Americas (UL) and Europe (CE). The units are suitable for use in ITE applications conforming to conducted and radiated emissions EN55032 level B.

This is the start of a new family of ultra-compact external desktop products from FiDUS Power. The 300W, 250W, 160W or 150W and finally 120W series to come next year in this exciting and impressive product line.
